Glossary - Arachnoiditis
Arachnoiditis is scarring of the connective tissue (the spinal arachnoid) around your spinal nerve roots. Arachnoid literally means "a cobweb" The most common cause of arachnoiditis is a previous surgery in that area. Arachnoiditis symptoms can include pain, numbness, and tingling in your legs. Arachnoiditis can be difficult to treat because its symptoms are not very responsive to traditional treatments. In severe cases, a spinal cord stimulator may be used. More surgery to correct this condition can make this condition worse.
